The Hardcastle branch goes back to John Hardcastle, born 1740 and lived in Skelton.
The Chester branch goes back to Richard Chester born 1768 and lived in Threshfield.

Notes:-
- The heavyweight line in the tree indicates our lineage line.
- The dotted line from Richard to William Chester indicates that, whilst it is highly likely that Richard in the 1841 census is William's father, I haven't yet found confirmation. And the relationship of Richard to Ellen and Elizabeth is unclear as yet. This generation are recorded in the Linton burial records, but they pre-date the start of the national census.
- Additional siblings in the earlier generations may exist, but haven't been found yet.
